Hickory Knoll Farm manufactures, imports and restores carts and carriages for pleasure, distance and combined driving. Vehicles and accessories are imported from Germany, Poland, and Hungary. We carry an extensive line of Marathon Vehicles sized from small pony to warm blood four-in-hand in weights from 160kg to 380kg.

Hickory Knoll Farm is a proud member of the Mesothelioma Community Resource Network, and hope that families of loved ones of cancer patients find comfort while lodging with us.
Hickory Knoll Farm, situated on a picturesque rolling prairie with an oak savannah, trains and cares for sport and leisure horses. It has an educational focus, providing lessons in dressage, eventing, polo and driving. A variety of clinics are offered during the year. The Midwest Driving Clinic is the largest meeting, attracting drivers from a dozen states. Driven and ridden dressage clinics, youth clinics and driving fun days are also available.
Polo is played on the twelve acre grass field. A beginner program is offered each year. Practices are held most summer Tuesday and Thursday evenings with games and scrimmages on the weekends.
The Farm is located in rural Fitchburg on Highway M between Caine and Fish Hatchery Roads, six miles south of Madison. The University of Wisconsin, The Alliant Center and State Capital are all within fifteen minutes of the Farm.
The original portion of the house is an ante-bellum residence constructed as the home of Samuel Greene, who farmed 320 acres of wheat at the time of the Civil War. The kitchen wing was added in the 1890s. The guest wing was moved to the farm and reconstructed. It is a timber framed structure with 170-year old floors and paneling, providing a warm and friendly environment.
A carriage barn is connected to the house in the fashion preferred by modern farmers in the 1830s. A guest barn, hay barn, carriage workshop, main stable and indoor arena complete the set of buildings. The heated stables are connected to a heated arena. The polo field and outdoor driving arena are north of the stables, through a grove of ancient oaks.
Eight pastures lie to the east and west, where horses graze during the day. A small orchard, a vegetable garden and flowerbeds surround the house.
